best rated juicer

Whether you’re squeezing oranges or like to start your day with a big glass of greens, one of the best rated juicers from our list will make it easy to whip up fresh-pressed produce in minutes.

If you’ve shopped for a juicer before, you know that the prices on these machines can vary widely, from affordable mobiles under $50 to top-of-the-line juicers that can set you back hundreds of dollars.

A juicer is an essential investment in your family’s health so it’s best to have all the information before making the decision. You want to be sure if it is right for you and is worthy of your money, time, and effort.

If you’re wondering which juicer is the best to buy, there are three main styles to choose from: Slow masticating juicers, centrifugal juicers and citrus juicers.

Choosing the right one for you will depend on a few factors, the most important being the kind of fruits and veggies you want to juice. Slow juicers and centrifugal juicers are best for fruits and vegetables, while citrus juicers are great for simply squeezing oranges, lemons, lime and grapefruit.

You might also want to consider how much money you’re willing to spend, how much space you have on your countertop, and finally, how serious you are about juicing.

You should think about how often you’ll realistically use your juicer and the amount of time you are ready to invest in prepping for the juice.

Best Rated Masticating Juicer

Omega NC900 HD Juicer is a single auger slow speed masticating juicer in a stylish, modern design that will enhance your kitchen.

Although it is a slow juicer, it can also function as a food processor.   It easily handles fruit and vegetables, including wheatgrass, spinach, kale and can also produce frozen desserts, nut butters, spaghetti, linguine and breadsticks.

You can also chop and mince garlic, red peppers, ginger and other herbs.

Its auger rotates at about 80 rpm which produces minimal to no heat and as a result no nutrients are lost being boiled by the heat generated from the motor.

Unlike fast juicers which spin at more than 10,000 rpm to extract juice, what makes this one of the best rated juicers for celery is that this machine does the job with a single auger crushing the ingredients into a chamber that guarantees complete juice extraction, even with wheatgrass and leafy vegetables, celery.

This best rated vegetable juicer has a two-stage juicing system using just one auger. The first stage takes care of the crushing; reducing the ingredients to pulp, then the second stage compresses the pulp extracting the maximum amount of juice.

A knob allows you to adjust the pressure with which the produce is squeezed.

Settings 1 to 3 give the perfect grind to the watery fruits, while settings 4 and 5 offer that strong press that allows you to make the most out of harder vegetables and fruits like carrot, ginger, or wheatgrass.

Omega NC900 HD is versatile, affordable, and super efficient with different types of fruits, veggies, and leafy greens.

It is the most reasonable pick for people who are serious about juicing for health in the long term.

Best Rated Centrifugal Juicer

The Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus flaunts a handsome, sturdy design and pulls lots of liquid from citrus and other hard fruit.

The machine also has two speeds to handle different types of produce and a food chute to process ingredients with minimal prep.
With its 850 watt motor and sharp blades on its stainless steel disc, the JE98XL can handle the toughest materials.

On the high speed mode which is around 12,000 rpm, it extracts juice out of the hardest fruits and veggies. It is one of the best rated juicers for carrots and apples, also, tough roots like ginger and even turmeric are no match for it.

The slow 6,500-RPM speed setting is perfect for soft produce like grapes or cherries

This juicer is fast and strong. It typically takes less than a minute to make a full cup of juice, even if you don’t push the plunger down the chute to force it.

This juicer is easy to assemble and use as it has only 5 parts. You can juice both hard fruits such as pears, beets and carrots just as well you would the softer vegetables and leafy greens – thanks to its dual-speed controls.

The 1-litre juice jug comes with a froth separator and the pulp container has a handle for more convenience.

The safety locking arm and the overload protection LED work together to guarantee your safety.

The cord is designed to wrap around the base and hide away from sight so that what you see is just the sleek body.

Best Rated Vertical Masticating Juicer

The SKG New Generation Wide Chute Masticating Juicer features a powerful 240W motor turning between 50 – 60 RPM which is the most common speed for many masticating juicers.

At this speed, there’s close to zero increase in temperature from the motor, which means there’s no heat to destroy the enzymes, producing high quality nutritious juice with minimum froth.

SKG Slow masticating juicer allows you to keep the juice air-proof inside the juicer’s chamber with a unique valve on its spout. It also prevents juice from spilling out and since the juice doesn’t get exposed to air, it minimizes oxidation.

What makes the SKG juicer a best rated cold press juicer is that it crushes a large variety of produce, and the 3” feed chute makes juicing a fast process, although you will have to chop fibrous vegetables such as celery or spinach into smaller sized pieces.

It clogs up easily as the auger doesn’t really cut things up. All it does is to squeeze the juice out and move the pulp to the exit. Hence, it is recommended to cut all the fruits and veggies into small pieces especially the fibrous ones before feeding them to the juicer.

The clean up is pretty easy, if done immediately after use. Use the brush that is included to clean the mesh screen, which is the most important part that needs to be kept completely clean for best performance.

The rest of the parts are easy to wash, it comes apart easily and it is a simple operation to re-assemble the juicer.

Best Rated Citrus Juicer

One of the main reasons the Cuisinart CCJ-500 is a best rated fruit juicer is simply how easy it is to operate. It’s not over complicated and all you need to do in order to get the juice from your favorite fruit is to cut the fruit in half and place it on the removable plastic reamer on top of the machine.

Just as the name suggests, Cuisinart CCJ-500 is designed for extracting juices from citrus fruits and as such, the universal juicing cone of this model efficiently extracts all grapefruits, limes and oranges.

It has a unique pulp control setting, which lets you adjust for the exact amount of pulp you want (or don’t want) in your juice.

This is the best rated lemon juicer on our list as it  is similar to a manual citrus juicer. It uses a reamer, and you have to press down on the fruit to squeeze the juice out.

It is easy to do because it also has a motor to rotate the reamer to get all the juice out until you only have the rind left.
Moreover, it is super easy to clean and all its parts are dishwasher-safe.

There’s also a “Final Spin” feature, which helps extract every last bit of juice from your fruit so there’s zero waste.

Once you choose your pulp setting on the reamer all you have to do is place a glass underneath the spout, place your fruit firmly on the reamer and press down on the fruit to activate the spinning motion.

The Cuisinart CCJ-500 Pulp Control Citrus Juicer comes with three reamer speeds. Low, medium, and high settings will prepare your juice differently.

Depending on the fruit, you will want to experiment with all three speeds to maximize the juice level while minimizing losses with the pulp.

This product is made from stainless steel and it not only looks great but is guaranteed to last for quite a while. The stainless steel frame of the Cuisinart CCJ-500 Pulp Control Citrus Juicer also allows the product to operate rather quietly.

Best Rated Quietest Electric Juicer

This slow compression (masticating) juicer uses a screw and filter design that crushes and squeezes to get the most juice from whole foods.

This design makes it one of the top rated juicer extractor as it is the ideal process for extracting high-yield juice from tougher-to-juice items like wheatgrass, small berries, tomatoes, carrots, and greens.

One of the big benefits of the Big Squeeze is it has two openings up top. One large opening for whole apples or tomatoes, and I found it to be larger than most other vertical juicers.

The smaller shoot is for your carrots, celery and the like and they get directed right to the auger to be crushed.

Besides producing more juice, this best rated cold-press juicer leaves your juice with more nutrients and fiber compared to centrifugal juicing.

You just have to place your favorite fresh produce in the food chute, you won’t have to cut them up too much as the chute is 3 inches wide.
Using the slow speed extraction method, it squeezes the juice from your favorite fruits and vegetables with little heat transfer.

It has both a small chute, and a large 3” one to easily handle both small and large ingredients. Plus, the smartly designed Big Squeeze has a spout plug that allows you to pre-mix your juice for a fuller flavor and texture before pouring.

This juice press can take all types of fruits and vegetables such as hard produce, soft fruits, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and nuts and beans

Breville BJS700SIL requires some effort to clean. It’s not dishwasher safe like other juicer brands.

Best Rated Juicer Under $100

The Hamilton Beach 67601A Juice Extractor is affordably priced yet outperforms other juicers which cost twice as much.

The 67601A Juice Extractor’s large food chute and mouth accepts big pieces of fruit and vegetables and its parts are dishwasher safe.

This is a powerful juicer and if you like a lot of pulp and fiber in your juice, it’s a good choice. As the name suggests it has a large mouth or feed chute and can take some whole fruit such as apples, which means less preparation time for you.

Like other centrifugal juicers the Hamilton Beach 67601A it operates at high speed and does produce some foam and oxidation of the juice, but for an inexpensive juicer the performance in this respect is really not too bad.

The high speed and efficient motor allow this product to extract larger quantities of juice from some of the toughest fruits and even rock hard vegetables when compared to other similarly priced juice extractors.

This juicer only turns on and off and won’t allow you to vary speeds for different types of produce, as some of the juicers in our lineup do.
With only five removable parts, this Hamilton Beach juicer is easiest to clean.

This is made even truer because the product comes with a handy scrub brush, which makes cleaning the stainless steel blade very easy.

Another great feature of the Big Mouth juicer is that it incorporates a rather large pulp container. This is quite useful as you don’t need to stop to clean out the pulp bucket very often. On the downside the juice container capacity is only 20 oz, so you may need to stop and decant into another jar if doing a long juicing run.

Best Rated Easy To Clean Juicer

Hurom has designed their juicers to minimize the breakdown and oxidation of fruits and vegetables so that the juice holds onto more nutrients and has a fresh, natural taste. With patented slow squeeze technology, the H101 Easy Clean Slow Juicer rotates at a speed of 43 revolutions per minute. This mimics the motion of hand-squeezing fresh juice and helps to preserve the natural goodness of fruits and vegetables. The pulp outlet opens 180 degrees so you can flush out any remaining pulp inside the chamber.
The H101 Easy Clean Slow Juicer comes with a fine and coarse strainer that allows you to control the amount of pulp to suit your taste.

The quiet, AC motor uses just 150 watts of power. (I actually enjoy the sound of this juicer at work – it sounds like a giant munching on celery.)
For safety, the unit operates only if the chamber is completely and accurately put together. A built-in cooling system with integrated heat vents prevents overheating.

Juicer Buying Guide

Things To Look For In A Juicer
Simplicity: Easy to assemble and use, easy to clean

If you want to enjoy health benefits from juicing, but you aren’t passionate, keeping it simple is the best route. If your juicer has only a few simple parts and is easy to use and clean, you’ll be motivated to use it more often.

Keeping the juicing machine on the counter is also essential to simplicity. A sleek, upright centrifugal machine takes up the least amount of space, is incredibly fast, and is easy to assemble and clean.

If you’re highly motivated or if you already own a fairly inexpensive juicer and you want to move up to a machine that juices grasses and extracts more juice and nutrients, the masticating or triturating juicers are a better choice.

Speed: High speed and variable speed

Masticating and triturating juicers have only one speed: slow and slower, respectively, which is a health advantage.

Some centrifugal juicer models come with variable speeds, which slow the blades of the spinning basket down for soft fruit and allow you to gradually increase the speed as you juice harder fruits and vegetables. The slower the basket spins, the more juice may be extracted from the fruit or vegetable, so this is a definite advantage of these types of machines.

Number and quality of nutrients extracted

Masticating or triturating juicers are generally thought to be better at extracting and preserving the nutrients. However, because you have to cut up the fruits and vegetables into very small pieces, depending on how long they sit out, they may lose nutrients to oxidation before they even hit the auger.

Other factors
1. The amount of juice extracted
2. External pulp ejection
3. Yield of juice and dryness of pulp
4. Size of the feed tube
5. Size of the pulp container
6. Quality of the parts
7. Motor size and power
8. Noise that the juicer produces
Types Of Juicers
Slow Masticating Juicers

A masticating juicer has an auger that works to crush the material and squeeze it against the chamber to extract juice. Slow juicers typically have a narrow vertical chute that lead ingredients into the chamber where they are pressed by the rotating auger.

The fresh juice is squeezed out through a strainer and into a pitcher, while the pulp is dispensed from another spout. These are also called as Cold-pressed juicers because there is no heat production in making the juice as the auger rotates very slowly. They produce excellent quality juice as there is no heat present to destroy the enzymes and antioxidants in the juice.

Despite the slow speed, these machines perform very well on both hard materials like cucumbers and carrots, and softer ones, such as kale or grapes. Slow Masticating Juicers are the best juicers for leafy greens. But, there is a downside too. Slow juicers often require a little more prep work due to their small feed tubes and you’ll have to dice up fruits and veggies into smaller chunks.

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers are one of the most common types, and utilize a spinning blade to chop up fruits and vegetables much like a blender.

These are the fastest and most affordable of motorized juicers. In a centrifugal juicer, a mesh chamber with sharp teeth spins at a very high speed to shred the materials and separate the juice. They generally have a large feeding chute that allows for the whole fruit to be chowed without pre-cutting. These machines are fast and can make juice in no time.

The juice from centrifugal juicers tends to come out a little foamy. These are the noisiest of juicers among all kinds and they produce heat because of high rotational speed of the mesh chamber. This heat causes the oxidation and a loss of nutrients in the juice, thus reducing the juice quality.

Centrifugal juicers are good for thick crunchy fruits and veggies but these juicers are much less efficient in handling leafy greens.

Citrus Juicers

Citrus juicers are the easiest to use and most streamlined, but they can only be used for citrus. The electric models simply use a larger, more efficient reamer to quickly extract juice from citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and limes. The juice can be categorized as cold-pressed, as there is very little or no heat generated during the juicing process, even on a motorized machine. Citrus juicers are really easy to assemble, disassemble, and clean up because they have few detachable parts.
